After a heralded opening in late May and a brief closing and re-opening in August, The Celebrity Room pizza restaurant is officially no more.
"Celebrity Room has left the building," said George Fox, director of leasing for Wheeler Real Estate, the landlord for the restaurant space.
The restaurant, in the TJ Maxx shopping center at 9127 W. Broad St., opened in May under the direction of Alan Serafim, whose family ran the original Celebrity Room in northern Henrico County for 31 years before it closed in 1994.
In August, the restaurant closed for several days.
At the time, manager Wanie Harris told The Times-Dispatch that Serafim had decided he "didn't want to be part of the restaurant business" anymore; at that point, partner Jim Face had taken over management of The Celebrity Room.
Serafim also owns and operates Memories Catering.
There has been no answer at that business' number for several days. Face could not be reached for comment.
